Sliding Scale
Birth Doula Services
-
Tier 1 - $1600
Tier 1 is for clients who can afford to pay full-price for doula services. They may have had to budget to do so, or price may not have been a contributing factor in considering doula support. Paying at this level helps ensure that all families are able to access doula support, regardless of funds.
-
Tier 2 - $1400
Tier 2 clients may have gone back and forth about whether they could afford to hire someone. They may have enlisted help from family and friends or put a birth doula on their registry to help gather funds. The cost of a doula would represent some sacrifice but would not create financial hardship.
-
Tier 3 - $1000
Tier 3 clients are people who have been struggling financially. One or multiple partners may be unemployed and they may not have access to other people who will help pay for support. Higher levels on the scale would create financial hardship.

Name Your Price
If none of the above feels like it represents your situation, I encourage you to “Name Your Price” based on your ability to pay. This may be something in between the above tiers or below. It may also include bartered goods/services (i.e. a client who is a yoga instructor may be able to barter yoga classes to cover part of their fee) . I am passionate about providing accessibility to doula services, so am willing to get creative for what this may look like.
Payment Plans
-
Typical Payment Schedule
For most clients, I ask for a down payment of 50% when they sign the contract. This deposit holds your spot on my calendar and goes toward prenatal appointments. The remaining 50% will be paid by 38 weeks, which is when I go on call. If the baby comes prior to 38 weeks, payment is due by one week following baby’s birth date.
-
Alternate Payment Plans
Providing alternate payment plans is another option to increase accessibility to doula services. If the standard payment plan does not work for you, we can discuss alternative options. Some options may include: Paying the 50% deposit, but spacing out smaller payments for the remainder. Others may pay a smaller deposit and then space out the remaining payments throughout their pregnancy. We can discuss creative options to make this work for you. Payment plans will be agreed upon prior to contract signing.
